One of the most recognized hymns in the history of AC / DC, a philosophy of life that can be applied not only to rocking out but to all order of things. A song could be appropriated by the band of the Young brothers and Bon Scott since with talent, blood, sweat, and tears and a unique fierceness on stage they managed to be recognized as one of the greatest rock bands in the world.
The video was filmed on February 21st, 1976 at “Bandstand” Channel 9 Studio just two days before the filming of the band playing in the back of a truck on Swanston Street, Melbourne, where the historical music video was made, with something of its own roots, as there are bagpipes that make a difference in the repertoire of Australians, paying homage to the group’s Scottish roots, but coupled with a rhythm & blues and those Malcolm vintage guitars that you immediately fall in love with.
It was their brother, producer George Young, who was in charge of finishing “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll)” and organizing this video, emphasizing playing some ranges of bagpipes and turning it into one of the more lively rock’n’roll experimentations. Scott wasn’t a piper after all, though he had been a drummer in a bagpipe band and memorably played with the prog-rock band Fraternity in Adelaide, but he approached the task with the insane poise that made him into one of the best hard rock performers ever seen, and that chorus coming out of his huge voice became a classic.
