This album defines the Woodstock era of rock, a folk-rock Hall of Famer, and summed up everything cool about the 60s’.
DéjàVu continues to fascinate Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young fans to date because of how indicative it is of the time and where it was released.
The album is surely filled with great acoustic songs and harmonies plus Young’s powerful electric guitar added to the mix. It has too many great songs to pick and one of the best is “Carry On” and was a fan favorite.
DéjàVu is surely an amazing record from a super-group, even the Side B flows together pretty well. It’s absolutely the definition of classic rock made by rock legends at the peak of peace, love and rock and roll. It contains, of course, protest, psychedelia, and celebration. The harmonies are forever, and Young was put on the map with the release of this album after Buffalo Springfield. Neil Young added the missing ingredient.
Keep in mind that this is not a concept album nor one where they tried to do – it’s just that the songs worked together pretty well, and it’s one of the most heartfelt and powerful musical statements during the era, and few other artists have ever scaled the heights of the musical expression of this album.
