Bruce Springsteen Plays For An Empty Fenway Stadium

via @Dropkick Murphys | Youtube

Through isolated location, Bruce Springsteen virtually sat in with the Dropkick Murphys at their gig at an empty stadium in Fenway Park in Boston.

Near the end of the set, after Dropkick Murphys performed a rendition of Standells’ garage-rock classic “Dirty Water,” Springsteen appeared on the centerfield scoreboard along with singer Ken Casey introducing as the “reigning, defending heavyweight champion of rock n’ roll.” The two then traded verses on the Dropkick Murphys’ “Rose Tattoo,” which Springsteen performed with the band during a 2013 charity EP. Then performed next on Springsteen’s own Irish-inflected “American Land.”

The live stream was hosted to benefit local charities in the Boston area; the Boston Resiliency Fund, Feeding America, and Greater Boston’s Habitat for Humanity. And at the time, it has raised more than $100,000.

The Boss with the Murphys also covered Gerry Cinnamon‘s classic song, ‘The Bonny’ during the set.
