I Mean, Who Needs Led Zeppelin When You’re Jimmy Page?

I often wonder if Jimmy Page knew that when he was writing “Stairway To Heaven” for Led Zeppelin it would end up becoming one of the (if not THE) most iconic rock songs in history. Even today, the song is studied and revered by fans and critics alike. The song was ahead of its time when it was written, and it’s even still ahead of its time today.

We could just go on and on forever about how great “Stairway To Heaven” is and how great Page is, but as he himself would probably tell you, it’s better to let the music do the talking.

If you were ever lucky enough to see Led Zeppelin perform “Stairway To Heaven” live, then like many others, you will remember just how stellar of an experience it was from start to finish, but what many people didn’t get to see was Page actually jam this song all by himself without Led Zeppelin. And luckily for you, we’ve got you covered there.

What you’re about to watch is an old performance from 1988 in which the aforementioned Jimmy Page takes the stage with a small band and proceeds to lead the crowd in a unique jam of “Stairway To Heaven” all by himself.

What’s truly amazing about this performance is that Page is easily able to capture the same magic playing this song as he would if he were with Led Zeppelin. Don’t believe me? See for yourself!
