Iman Shares Why She Won’t Get Married After David Bowie’s Death

They fell in love at first sight on a blind date. So much so that the same night they met they speculated on what their children were going to be called. She was Zara Mohamed Abdulmajid, the Somali supermodel known as Iman. He, the rock genius, actor, and painter David Bowie.

David Bowie and Iman were introduced to their friend, hairdresser, and stylist Teddy Antolin at their birthday party on October 4, 1990, in Los Angeles, where the stylist convinced Bowie to travel from New York to California.

Almost six years after the death of the creator of Starman or Ziggy Stardust from liver cancer, his widow says she never plans to remarry. In an interview with People, the model explained that when her daughter, Alexandria Lexi Jones, who is now 21 years old, asked her about it, she said:

‘No, I will not.’ I still feel married,” the actor recalled, adding: “Someone a few years ago referred to David as my late husband and I said: ‘No, he’s not my late husband. He’s my husband.’”

The couple married in Florence, Italy on June 6, 1992. They found happiness in New York, where the musician could “hide in plain sight” in his favorite bookstores and bring his daughter, Alexandria, home from school.

“This was truly the love of my life, and I just wait until I meet him again,” she said.
