Proof Freddie Was a Rock God – A Look At Queen’s 1977 Bohemian Rhapsody Performance

In 1977, Queen brought News Of The World Tour to The Summit in Houston, TX. This tour was in promotion of the album News Of The World an album best known for its two rock anthems, “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions”. This particular show was professionally filmed and recently fans unveiled a new version of the concert film that includes remastered audio. The set list included over 27 songs, including, aside from the two rock anthems, “Tie Your Mother Down,”  “Killer Queen”, “Somebody To Love”, and of course “Bohemian Rhapsody”.

Recently, trailers of the newest Queen biopic called Bohemian Rhapsody have been released and there’s a clip from the trailer that recreated this exact same show. Same outfit, same song, but with Freddie’s actual voice used as the audio. Ever since the clip has been released, this original performance from 1977 also resurfaced and people were again reminded how talented and legendary Freddie Mercury is live.

There are even comments that say this live performance is so close to the studio recording that it feels like a god is singing and not a mere creature of the earth, saying this is actually one of best live versions of Freddie’s musical masterpiece they have ever encountered (next to the iconic Live Aid concert, of course) The originality of the showmanship just leaks through the video.

Just listen to how Freddie hits and holds his high notes in this performance and you are in for an aboslute jaw-dropping awe-inspiring treat!
