The Kinks To Reunite After Two Decades

The Kinks

It’s Finally Happening!

One member of The Kinks has confirmed the plans for a reunion which includes a new album after two decades of being apart together.

Ray Davies revealed in an interview with the UK’s Channel 4 that he has been back in the studios working with his brother, guitarist Dave Davies, and drummer Mick Avory, on new music, in which the two had buried the hatchet, according to The Telegraph report.

“The trouble is, the two remaining members – my brother Dave and Mick – never got along very well,” explains the singer. “But I’ve made that work in the studio and it’s fired me up to make them play harder, and with fire.”

Ray Davies also shared his work on a reunion of The Kinks – since their break up in 1996 – had been “inspired by the Rolling Stones, who recently completed a European tour to critical acclaim.”

“I’ve got all these songs that I wrote for the band when we – not broke up – parted company, and I think it’s kind of an appropriate time to do it,” he continued. “It won’t be well-organized like the Rolling Stones. You must praise the Rolling Stones for being great at publicity and a great band great at organizing their careers and Mick [Jagger] has done an incredible PR job and it’s kind of inspiring to see them doing it.”

“But The Kinks will probably be playing the local bar.”

The Davies brothers founded The Kinks in London in 1964. Ray wrote all of their 14 top ten international hits starting with “You Really Got Me,” and followed by “All Day and All of The Night,” “Tired of Waiting For You,” “Set Me Free,” “Dedicated Follower of Fashion,” “Sunny Afternoon,” “Waterloo Sunset,” “Lola,” “Apeman,” “Come Dancing,” and more.

The Kinks managed to sell more than 50 million albums worldwide and were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1990.
