The ZZ Top icon is going big, bad, solo!
Billy Gibbons has announced details regarding his “down and dirty” second solo album called ‘The Big Bad Blues’.
The album will be released on Friday 21st September 2018 via Snakefarm Records.
This is the follow-up to his Afro-Cuban inspired 2015 record Perfectamundo.
His co-producer in this album is Joe Hardy, who also plays bass in the record, and they recorded a total of 11 tracks at Foam Box Recordings in Houston, Texas.
The track list consists of six BFG originals and five cover versions of songs by Muddy Waters, Bo Diddley, Jerome Green and Gilly Stillwater.
Billy himself will be taking on the guitar, harmonica and vocal duties. He also invited a very talented roster of musicians including Guns N’ Roses’ Matt Sorum), Greg Morrow on drums, Mike ‘The Drifter’ Flanigin on keyboards and James Harmon on additional harmonica.
Gibbons says, “We successfully made our way through those uncharted waters with the Cubano flavor of Perfectamundo and completed the journey.
“The shift back to the blues is a natural. It’s something which our followers can enjoy with the satisfaction of experiencing the roots tradition and, at the same time, feeling the richness of stretching the art form.”
