Mike Campbell and Benmont Tench, members of the Heartbreakers, had previously served as Dylan’s backing band during his 1986 True Confession and 1987 Temples in Flames tours. Steve Ferrone joined the band in 1994, adding to the star-studded lineup.
Interestingly, Bob Dylan played a pivotal role in inspiring the creation of Farm Aid. During his performance at the 1985 Live Aid concert, he made a heartfelt comment about the financial struggles faced by American farmers. Dylan’s words resonated with Willie Nelson, who was moved by the idea of supporting struggling farmers. This led to the inception of Farm Aid later that same year.
Dylan’s comment at Live Aid, suggesting that a portion of the funds raised be used to help farmers facing mortgage challenges, played a crucial role in igniting the Farm Aid movement.
