The character Eddie Munson from Stranger Things gained popularity among fans in Season 4, and now a prequel book is being released that tells his origin story.

The book, titled Stranger Things: Flight of Icarus, is written by Caitlin Schneiderhan and is set two years before the events of Season 4 in 1984. The plot of the book revolves around Eddie meeting a music producer named Paige and becoming involved in his father’s illegal business activities in order to fund his own aspirations. Entertainment Weekly reported on the details of the book.

Entertainment Weekly interviewed Caitlin Schneiderhan, the author of the upcoming Stranger Things prequel book about Eddie Munson’s origin story. Schneiderhan, who is part of the writing team for Season 5 of Stranger Things, expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to reveal a new aspect of Eddie’s story to fans of the show.

“I’m so excited for fans to go with him on his journey towards becoming a hero, to experience the messy and uncomfortable decisions that led him to become the brave misfit we all know and love,” Schneiderhan told Entertainment Weekly.

Schneiderhan shared her perspective on why Eddie Munson has become such a beloved character among fans of Stranger Things.

He added:

“Eddie is a person who is unfailingly, unapologetically himself, which is irresistible enough on its own. But add on the fact that he encourages the people around him to be the same? Who wouldn’t want to be friends with that guy?”
