AC/DC vocalist Brian Johnson tells the official story about how he joined the Australian band. He does it through a four-minute video, although he had already told several times that he got to know Bon Scott in the early ’70s.
When Bon Scott died, Brian Johnson was working in a garage, mortgaged, separated from two children, and living with his parents because he didn’t have the money to go it alone. He was 32 years old
Bon Scott died on February 19, 1980, at the age of 33 inside a parked car, choking on his vomit after a drunken binge. That’s the official version. During these last 40 years, some more theories have been developed. Surely the journalist who has investigated the death more thoroughly is the Australian Jesse Fink, author of Bon: the last highway.
Back In Black was released on July 25, 1980, five months after the singer’s death. The cover (black), the title, and the whole album are a tribute to Scott. The album immediately began climbing the best-seller lists, both in Europe and the United States.
