Rejoice Pink Floyd fans! A complete collection of artworks from the band’s various experimental audio-visual projects is up for auction soon.
Included in the auction also are myriad of storyboards, memorabilia, animation cels, and stage props that were once used for the recreation of the film’s terrifyingly apocalyptic aesthetic on stage.
Artist Gerald Scarfe said that the collection up for auction will consist of over 3000 works starting from the time where he first met Roger Waters which was around 1974. He also said that he wishes that the collection will be sold as a bundle by a single person rather than being sold separately.
The artworks represent the chief artist of the band’s life’s work and that’s why Gerald Scarfe wishes it to be sold as a whole single unit as it was a tough decision for him to let his entire life’s work go. However, he managed to sell his original Screaming Face watercolor painting used as the cover artwork for The Wall movie for 1.8 million dollars which were a record-breaking sale.
