John Lennon Only Complimented Paul McCartney Once

via 60 Minutes/YouTube

This Is Surprising… Or Is It?

Paul McCartney is one of the greatest rockers of all time. He’s a stellar songwriter, impeccable singer and a superb bassist too. Oh and did we mention he’s a multi-instrumentalist as well? He’s an accomplished musician and most people can only hope to get close to what he has achieved in over five decades in this industry.

The thing is, he knows he’s among the best in the business but even Paul McCartney himself likes reassurance from his colleagues from time to time that he’s good. And certainly, compliments are always welcome especially if it comes from his buddy John Lennon. They’ve always been competitive and they like to one-up each other which eventually resulted to an impressive catalog of classic hits.

But with all the amazing songs Paul has written, he said that John complimented him ONLY ONCE. Then again, we know how much of a perfectionist John was. Still…

He even revealed that he also paid John some compliments but usually when he’s “a little drunk.” You can pretty much picture out how they like to compete when it came to writing brilliant pieces of music.

Nevertheless, we’re loving Paul’s interviews these past few days. He seems more candid and relaxed – so much so that he even surprised fans riding the elevator. And he’s been sharing a lot of funny and intimate stories about his fellow Beatles – some of which are way too raunchy.

“I think in the end this was one of the strengths of the Beatles, this enforced closeness which I always liken to army buddies. Because you’re all in the same barracks. We were always very close and on top of each other, which meant you could totally read each other.

“In music, it made us a very tight band, but as friends, it made us able to read each other.” – Paul McCartney

2018 is definitely his year.
