The heavy metal icon assures that the guitarist spoke to him late at night
According to a recent revelation made by Ozzy Osbourne, Eddie Van Halen would have proposed to the prince of darkness himself to be part of his group.
Osbourne would have toured with Van Halen in the 1970s when he was the lead singer of Black Sabbath, so he would admit that every encounter with the late guitarist “was fun.”
During a recent talk on SiriusXM’s “Ozzy’s Boneyard” radio show, Osbourne said Van Halen “he [Eddie] phoned me up one time, asked me if I wanted to sing in his band,”
Although Osborne did not specify the exact year in which the event took place, he commented that this occurred “way after Sammy [Hagar’s]” left the group.
Osbourne adds that he thought Van Halen may have been “a bit drunk,” Osbourne admitted. “We’ve all done one of them calls at four o’clock in the morning. ‘I’ve got a great idea!'”
On October 6, Eddie Van Halen passed away at the age of 65, after losing an extensive battle with cancer. Osbourne was one of the hundreds of musical icons who paid tribute to his memory in the days after his death, calling the guitarist “a force to be reckoned with.”
