Most fascinating cover versions of Guns N’ Roses’ Sweet Child O’ Mine, spanning jazz to house, ska to goth, electro to metalcore, but the piano guy at the mall stands out the most.
Glaucio Cristelo have a go at killing Sweet Child, strangely substituting Axl’s lovelorn singing with a scornful spitting shriek and replacing the primary guitar line with plonky piano. Mind you, the guitar solo is incredible.
We’ve heard Guns N’ Roses’ “Sweet Child O’ Mine” covered by a variety of musicians over the years, including Sheryl Crow, Belladonna, and a young Chinese guzheng player. Some of the covers were dreadful, and some of them were actually quite good. But my fave is this one by Glaucio Cristelo.
Glaucio Cristelo has transformed GN’R’s classic into a all piano piece in a mall. It may appear gimmicky or even dumb, but it works amazingly well. Strange times we live in, a musician of this level playing in a mall for 10 people. Take a look:
