Gary Holt Takes Down Kim Kardashian On Social Media
At this point, it’s pretty safe to say that the metal world does not like the Kardashians.
Jenners?
KarJenners?
Whatever.
In any event, the last few years have seen some of metal’s best and most respected going toe to toe with the famous TV family, most recently in 2016 when sisters Kylie and Kendall Jenner took it upon themselves to release a line of repurposed band t-shirts with their own faces plastered over them.
Along with being sued by The Doors, the Jenner girls’ “designs” drew the ire of Sharon Osbourne, who famously told the girls to “stick to what you know… lipgloss.”

Two years later, the KarJenner clan has earned the wrath of yet another one of metal’s elder statesmen and this time, being polite was completely off the table.
Gary Holt, guitarist for thrash metal titans Slayer and Exodus, responded to a pair of tweets fired off by Kim Kardashian yesterday regarding the issue of fashion companies producing knock off designs of couture originals – which is funny, considering that both Kim and her famous siblings have all been accused over the years of ripping off smaller brands, artists and designers to further their own empires.
Kardashian, 38, was responding to photos of a replication of a dress she wore over the weekend. She wrote, “It’s devastating to see these fashion companies rip off designs that have taken the blood, sweat an tears of true designers who have put all their own into original ideas.
I’ve watched these companies profit off my husband’s work for years and now that it’s also affecting designers who have been so generous to give me access to their beautiful works, I can no longer sit silent.”

Holt, famous for wearing his “Kill the Kardashians” t-shirt onstage over the years, didn’t take too kindly to this. Earlier today he went in on Kardashian, respectfully calling shenanigans on her outrage and reminding her of her own family’s history of…taking credit for other people’s work, shall we say.

“So says this dumb f— from a dumb f— family with THE longest history of ripping off designers on this earth,” begins Holt. “Like when they thought NOTHING of taking musicians album covers WITHOUT permission and slapping their faces over them for 120 dollar T shirts, or buying one of each design by a designer (paper trail leading straight to them) then copying them, down to the last thread.”
He then suggested that his followers “Google Kardashian fashion rip offs” before making a very pointed suggestion to Kim herself.
The post, shared to Instagram, amassed over 10,000 likes. Most fans agree that Holt’s response was totally warranted and the result of years of frustration with the famous family, while others believe that Kim’s dress being recreated by fast fashion companies is “karma” that she “should have seen coming,” and have no sympathy whatsoever.
Ouch.
We doubt she’ll respond to Mr. Holt’s comments, but in the meantime check out the comment section of his post – it’s pretty hilarious (if not a little NSFW in terms of language!).
