Many times, the world of rock and the world of drugs go hand in hand. Tell Stevie Nicks. The Fleetwood Mac singer not only had to be admitted to a detox clinic to treat her addiction to cocaine.
“All of us were drug addicts,” she told Rolling Stone. “But there was a point where I was the worst drug addict…I was a girl, I was fragile, and I was doing a lot of coke. And I had that hole in my nose. So it was dangerous.”
She also claimed that her friends, Tom Petty and Prince, were worried about her and that she would die young, but look who’s still standing.
“I did all I could to talk her into getting some help and getting right,” Tom Petty said. “I was very worried about her. To the point that if the phone did ring and they said, ‘Stevie died,’ I wouldn’t have been surprised.”
While on the other hand, Nicks said Prince hated drugs and was more worried about the drug usage than Nicks herself. The friendship they had was not that similar to what she and Petty had, maybe because it had to do with Nicks’s addiction.
“He hated [drugs],” the International Business Times reports that Nicks told AP. “And he hated that I did drugs and that’s probably why we didn’t hang out more.”
