One Of The Best Rock’s Subgenres!


Southern Rock music, as we know it, came to be because of the late Phil Walden, in Macon, Georgia. He started with managing such R&B legends as Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, and Percy Sledge.

Walden, along with the two brothers Alan and Frank Fenter started building their own record company – the Capricorn Records in 1969. Southern Rock music started when Walden signed The Allman Brothers and without them, he wouldn’t have been able to do it, then The Marshall Tucker Band followed soon.

But of course, without Elvis Presley, Rock N’ Roll, and especially Southern Rock wouldn’t have been popular, so technically, he’s a pioneer as well.
