Watch Foo Fighters Perform At 2021 And Accept Global Icon Award

Foo Fighters performed a mix of their hits before accepting the VMA’s first Global Icon Award, presented to the group by Billie Eilish.

The award, which has been a part of the EMAs for years, “pays tribute to an artist / band whose incomparable career and continued impact and influence have maintained a unique level of worldwide success in music and beyond.” Past honorees at the EMAs include Queen, Whitney Houston, Eminem, Green Day, and U2. Foo Fighters are nominated for VMAs for Best Rock, Best Cinematography, and Best Choreography for their video “Shame Shame”;

The Foo Fighters won the Global Icon Award, with Dave Grohl recalling 26 years as a band. “For another 26 years,” Grohl said.

The MTV VMAs returned to Brooklyn with performances by some of the biggest stars, both old and new, and Lil Nas X took home the # 1 Video of the Year award. Justin Bieber and Olivia Rodrigo were the other big winners of the night.
