DragonForce guitarist Herman Li had a mishap with his orange classical guitar, as he threw it for a technical member of the band to catch; however, it did not turn out as expected. You can see the final result of the guitar below.
At a recent tour stop in Texas, DragonForce’s Herman Li hurled his $5,000 guitar across the stage, into the arms of a member of the road crew, with disastrous results. And it was all caught on video for the world to see. At least hey, he took it with humor.
In the first place, it is very normal for guitarists and bassists to carry out such an act, that of throwing their instrument to their technical staff who accompany them at their concerts. They are also often known as roadies.
Herman Li took his guitar and threw it from the center of the stage to the roadie who was standing on his left and he couldn’t catch it. In addition, the video shows that the technician was located at the top of a ladder.
This he usually does quite a lot, despite playing it. it’s all fairly commonplace, as musicians normalize blowing up multi-thousand-dollar pieces of gear with little thought to the possible consequences. However, accidents happen, and that is the sad case of Li’s guitar, which was damaged after the roadie, who was perched on some stairs at the side of the stage, failed to pick it up.
The guitarist shared an edited video of the moment on Instagram. In the beginning, he asked his followers to “please keep my guitar in your thoughts”. He played the song “Angel” by Sarah McLachlan in the background.
