Aerosmith fans were in for a treat during the band’s concert (August 2019) at the MGM National Harbor in Maryland when Joey Kramer, the band’s drummer, was forced to miss the show due to an ankle injury. However, what unfolded on stage that night made it a memorable performance for all in attendance.

Kramer’s absence marked the second consecutive show he had to sit out, with the previous one also at the same venue as part of Aerosmith’s “Deuces Are Wild” tour.

Despite missing their drummer, Aerosmith was determined to deliver an unforgettable show.

This isn’t the first time Aerosmith has faced such a situation. In April, the band performed two shows in Las Vegas without Joey Kramer after he had a minor accident that resulted in a shoulder injury. Stepping up to fill Kramer’s shoes at those concerts was none other than John Douglas, Kramer’s drum technician.

Looking back to August 2014, Aerosmith had to cancel a California concert because Joey Kramer was dealing with heart complications that required immediate surgery.

Kramer later revealed that he underwent an angioplasty and clarified that it was a hereditary issue. He mentioned that there was a family history of such problems, and unfortunately, he was the one affected. However, he emerged from the surgery with optimism, stating:

“It wasn’t my time. It wasn’t time for my ticket to be punched. And so I got fixed, and I’m back 150 percent, and everything is as good as it can possibly be.”

Despite the challenges he has faced, Joey Kramer has consistently shown resilience and determination. His commitment to his craft and his bandmates is evident, and his passion for performing remains undiminished.
